2004 Conference (CR-III) DVDs

DVDs of the 2004 Calorie Restriction Society Conference (CR-III) held in Charleston South Carolina November 4 through 7, 2004 are available for purchase. Like the previous two CR conferences, CR-III had a multitude of presentations given by leading scientist and CR practitioners. [View: conference brochure (pdf), conference web site]. The DVDs contain conference talks with projector screen footage, slides released by the speakers, summaries by Dean Pomerleau and interviews with some long term CR practitioners.

Using video compression (called VCD), all material fits on only two DVDs, which will play in DVD players and computers with a DVD ROM drive. Each DVD contains about 7 hours of video. Quality is similar to VHS tape. Order on-line with a credit card or by mailing a check. Contents and sample clips are given below. Supporting members may download selected additional materials supplied by the speakers by clicking on the links. Items in gray are not available for download, but are on the DVD.

Why These DVDs are a Bargain.

The DVD sound and video quality is nearly always excellent. Having these DVDs is almost as good (or even better) than attending the conference. At the conference, unless you were sitting in the front, presented images were not always legible. And even if you could see the images, it was basically impossible to absorb everything presented, let alone remember it months later. With these DVDs, you can replay talks, and repeat portions as many times as you wish in the comfort of your home. Plus, there is bonus material on the DVDs (personal interviews and power-point slides for many of the talks) which was not available at the conference. The DVDs are very inexpensive compared to conference attendance costs. Conference registration was $185. Adding hotel and airfare, makes a total of $600 or more (maybe much more). With the DVDs you are getting most of the benefits of the conference and enhancing your learning with much less expense!
